Volunteering Opportunities at SENAC |
Each year SENAC’s Advice-Line receives hundreds of calls for advice, information and support from parents and carers of children with special educational needs.
To develop the Advice-Line service we are seeking to recruit a team of volunteers who can help us respond to the growing demand.
SENAC recognises the value of the work and contribution of volunteers in complementing the activities of the Organisation and increasing the contact with those we support. |
Who can volunteer ? |
To become a volunteer is not dependent on educational qualifications however an ability to clearly communicate information is required. The Advice-line is for most parents the first point of contact with the Organisation and volunteers must operate in a professional and objective manner representing SENAC. |
We ask that our volunteers are either |
• |
A parent of a child with special educational needs who has experience of the assessment and statementing processes
|
• |
An educational professional preferably with experience of special education
|
• |
Experienced in law, advocacy or advice work or have relevant training
|
• |
Experienced or interested in the area of special educational needs
|
• |
A student in a relevant field eg. education or law
|
All volunteers must be over 18 and will be subject to standard disclosures and criminal records checks including POCVA checks, (Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults (NI) Order 2003) before undertaking SENAC’s Volunteer Training Programme. All information disclosed will be handled fairly and discreetly in accordance with regulations and procedures.
|
SENAC is committed to equal opportunities for volunteers and welcomes volunteers regardless of race, gender, sexuality or disabilities. |
